1905 House Picture

This picture was in a set of pictures taken by Fredrick McKay, a first cousin of Portia, Mabel, and Connie and who lived back in Brooksburg, Indiana.  He and his mother (remember Aunt Kate from the Auntie's tea party picture), and possibly Fredrick's father were visiting California in December 1905.  A group of them went to what may be a redwood forest, and I notice Samantha and Fredrick were in the group picture, but Connie was not.  So perhaps Connie was back home nursing her leg injury.

I have enclosed some additional pictures:

1.  Cousin Fred, age 22, visiting from Indiana.  He was the son of Aunt Kate Brooks McKay, sister of our great grandfather, Humphrey Brooks.  Taken December 1905.

2.  On the right, Aunt Kate, age 55, from Brooksburg, Indiana.  This was taken in a park in Los Angeles.  The other two ladies are probably friends of Connie and Samantha.  Taken December 1905.

3.  On an outing in the redwood forest.  On the left is cousin Fred, on the left front may be Fred's father, Theodore McKay, age 63, and leaning on the tree is our great grandmother, Samantha, age 55.  I have the names of most of the other people and I don't think they are relatives.  Notice how dressed up everyone is for going on this outing.  Taken Decemeber 1905.

4.  Connie and Samantha's house in late 1909.  Notice the palm trees are a lot bigger in this picture than they were 4 years earlier.
